Here's how to make the most of 5 days in Marrakech.

Day 1: Explore the Medina and Jemaa el-Fnaa

Start your Marrakech trip in the heart of the city: the Medina.

Spend the morning wandering through the narrow streets and discovering the famous souks, where you'll find everything from traditional Moroccan textiles and leather goods to spices, ceramics and handmade crafts.

Visit the beautiful Bahia Palace before making your way towards Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech's famous central square.

As evening arrives, the square becomes particularly lively, with food stalls, performers and locals gathering as the atmosphere changes dramatically from daytime.

Day 2: Discover Marrakech's History and Gardens

Spend your second day exploring some of Marrakech's most famous landmarks.

The Koutoubia Mosque is one of the city's most recognisable sights, while the Saadian Tombs provide a fascinating insight into Morocco's history.

Later, escape the busy streets at the Majorelle Garden. The colourful gardens and distinctive architecture make this one of Marrakech's most popular attractions, so arriving earlier in the day can help you avoid the busiest periods.

Leave some time to simply enjoy Marrakech itself. One of the pleasures of visiting the city is sitting down for a traditional Moroccan meal or enjoying mint tea while watching the world go by.

Day 3: Take a Day Trip to the Atlas Mountains

After two busy days in the city, head into the countryside.

The Atlas Mountains are within easy reach of Marrakech and offer a completely different side of Morocco. The landscape changes quickly as you leave the city behind, with mountain villages, valleys and spectacular scenery along the way.

Is 5 Days Enough for Marrakech?

For most visitors, 5 days in Marrakech is an ideal amount of time. It allows you to experience the city's major attractions without rushing, while also giving you the opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside.

If you're only interested in Marrakech itself, three or four days may be sufficient. However, if you want to experience more of Morocco, extending your trip to a week or longer can turn your holiday into an unforgettable road trip.
