People who have made reservations for car hire through Atlaschoice face having to pay for the same booking again. Renters turning up at car rental companies are being told their original bookings were invalid and they would have to pay again if they still wanted the vehicles.
Atlaschoice is a consolidator for most of the leading car hire brands and these include National, Europcar and Thrifty. Renters have taken to social media to vent their frustrations over their now worthless payments and reservations.
Some renters have stated they did not realise they were booking cars through Atlaschoice and were redirected from TravelSupermarket. A spokesperson for TravelSupermarket explained that Atlaschoice had been removed from its listings after not settling its account for November.
She continued by saying TravelSupermarket agents had tried to contact Atlaschoice. When they were unable to do so, the decision was made to annul the partnership. The spokesperson noted that prior to the missed payment for November there was not even the slightest hint Atlaschoice was in financial hot water.
Atlaschoice has posted a notice on its website saying it is not accepting any new reservations. On the additional information link, Atlaschoice says WorldPay is not dealing with any repayments and customers need to contact their credit or debit card issuer to action any refunds. WorldPay is Atlaschoice’s card payments processing agent.
